Why Montessori?

The Montessori philosophy is based upon specific experiences that encourage the inner motivation in all children just waiting to be awakened. The Westwood Montessori School is devoted to the belief that children learn naturally in an enriched environment that provides endless modes of discovery and wonder.

The essence of the philosophy is the prepared environment or classroom. This beautiful setting is designed with meticulous care and attention to address the needs of your ever-developing child. The materials enable self-directed, hands-on learning in the areas of practical life, sensorial, mathematics, language, science, geography and cultural arts. Children advance according to their own individual curiosity and independence in a non-competitive and caring environment.
